Q: what is the quality of photos?
A: the quality of photos are minimum 300 dpi.
Why PHOTOS and
home video VHS don’t last forever.
They are facts :
- The age of the pictures or films
- The
fading of pictures.
- The number of times the films have been played or duplicated.
- The environment in which they are
stored
Unless
the photos or tapes are transferred to digital formats CD/DVD, their images and audio will eventually be lost and too late
to retrieve.
Those
are the elements that contribute to the degrading of the pictures or films.
Most consumers are not aware of this factor.
After 10 years, those video tapes who
was once clear from what you remembered, are losing their audio quality (sounds are breaking up) or the
quality of the image has distorts pixels and wavy lines are formed.
By passing times, video tapes looses the magnetic particles as well as its
lubricants.
Unlike CD/DVDs in which a laser reads the data without ever touching the disk, a videotape makes contact
with the equipment heads every time it is played and eventually wears down the tape and looses quality and clarity.
Solution
This memories need to
be preserved for generation to come.
The best method is to transfer them to digital formats such as CD/DVDs.
Once the old films are transfer to a
cd/dvds, it will be easier to share it with your family in your pc or keep them, or organize them without a worry of degradation.
